Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are a great way to enhance your appearance without surgery. Fillers can help you achieve a rejuvenating and youth-enhancing outcome. Dr, Moore specializes in filler placement around the eyelids and midface.

Wrinkles are caused by both intrinsic (internal) and extrinsic (external) factors.

  1. Intrinsic Aging: With age, our skin naturally becomes less elastic and resilient. The production of collagen and elastin, the proteins responsible for maintaining the skin’s structure, decreases by 1% per year after age 20. The loss of collagen and elastin leads to volume loss, fine lines, and deep furrows.Another vital component of youthful skin is hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring sugar compound that hydrates the skin and increases skin elasticity. HA production decreases at about 1% per year after age 30, leading to fine lines, wrinkles, and crepey skin.
  2. Photoaging: 90% of visible changes in the skin are directly related to sun exposure. Prolonged and unprotected exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun leads to premature aging and wrinkle formation. UV rays damage collagen fibers and elastin, causing the skin to lose its firmness and develop wrinkles.
  3. Facial Expressions: Repeated facial movements and expressions, such as squinting, frowning, or smiling, can contribute to the formation of wrinkles. Over time, these repetitive muscle contractions create creases in the skin, especially in areas like the forehead, between the eyebrows (frown lines), and around the eyes (crow’s feet).
  4. Smoking: Smoking tobacco releases harmful chemicals into the body, which can accelerate the aging process and damage the skin’s collagen and elastin fibers. Smokers tend to have more pronounced wrinkles, particularly around the mouth (smoker’s lines) and eyes.
  5. Genetics: Genetic factors can influence the natural aging process and the skin’s ability to repair itself.
  6. Hormonal Changes: Hormonal fluctuations that occur with age, such as a decrease in estrogen during menopause, can contribute to the development of wrinkles.
  7. Lifestyle and Environmental Factors: Unhealthy lifestyle choices, such as a poor diet, lack of exercise, inadequate sleep, and chronic stress, can accelerate the aging process and contribute to the formation of wrinkles. Additionally, exposure to environmental pollutants and toxins can damage the skin and lead to premature aging.

Injectable dermal fillers offer a range of benefits in combating the signs of aging. They effectively restore lost volume, rejuvenate contours, and have the ability to minimize or even erase static wrinkles.

Collagen fillers

Collagen fillers work by plumping the skin from beneath, which results in a smoothing effect that reduces the appearance of wrinkles. These fillers can also be used to enhance the fullness of the lips and improve the appearance of scars, providing versatile treatment options.

They can be used to lift and fill sagging skin, contour the cheeks, chin, nose and jawline while restoring the structural support for the skin. Several treatments may be necessary to correct deep folds and wrinkles.

Dr. Moore does not inject collagen fillers and recommends additional evaluation by another injector if you are interested in collagen filler injection. If Dr. Moore feels that he cannot meet your needs, he will gladly refer you to another skilled injector following your consultation.

Hyaluronic Acid fillers

Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers deliver immediate lifting and smoothing effects. They can restore lost volume, lift cheeks, soften deep folds and creases, improve undereye hollows, improve upper eyelid hollows, hydrate and plump the skin, and volumize the lips. HA fillers are popular for their soft feel and natural look. Dr, Moore specializes in HA filler injection around the eyelids.

Brands of HA fillers include: Juvederm® brand fillers (Voluma, Vollure, Volbella, Ultra, and Ultra Plus) Restylane®, Restylane® Silk, Restylane® Lyft, Restylane® Kysse, and Belotero® Balance. Each has distinctive formulations designed for the treatment of specific locations.
